So this is a very special post for me to write. Why? Because Jeni is my best friend from high school. Well, one of three actually—we ran as a foursome in high school and were unstoppable. Yes, all of my three best girlfriends are blonds…weird I know:) Jeni came to my school in 10th grade and we bonded over cigarettes. Really. The funniest part is neither Jeni nor I are smokers anymore, the other two still are. Strange the things that bring people together. We got into lots of trouble together—or actually never really got into trouble but definitely would have if we got caught;) Jeni has TONS of dirt on me, so don’t ask her anything or she’ll get me into lots of trouble now:)
Jeni is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. That’s hard to believe if you look at these pics, but it is true. She is incredibly talented, and fun, and caring. She is bilingual for goodness sake (yes we also bonded over German culture). She speaks fluent German with my dad sometimes, none of us kids speak German but it is my father’s first language. It’s fun when they chat together. We used to spend time making linzer torte and noodle auflauf and goulash (or eating it really). We worked together in high school, slept over each other’s houses constantly, and were fairly inseparable. College came and brought us in different directions—me in the city, Jeni at UMass—but we always came together again for holidays and long weekends and important events. After college I got married (she was in the wedding) and went to grad school, Jeni went out west to San Diego…just because. We never didn’t call each other on New Year’s Eve (a tradition I guess) and she threw me a bachelorette/St. Patrick’s day party in San Diego when I visited a few months before my wedding. She came back to the east coast to live in Connecticut, I moved to LA…go freakin’ figure?!?!
If you couldn’t tell already I just love my Jeni and I’m so happy she found Joe. When I met Joe I knew he was the one for her. Fun, smart…a little bit flashy:) Joe keeps Jeni on her toes—he challenges her when she needs it and supports her always. I wish nothing but the best for these two (obviously) and I’m so glad I got to share in their engagement if only in the photos! Okay, I could keep going but I already wrote a novel and I know Jeni is obsessively checking the blog for her pics, so I’ll get these up in a timely manner. Miss you Jeni, love you, I hope you like these!
