Connecticut Wedding :: Jeni & Joe
Let me just preface this whole blog post with letting you know that I am going to be a total blubbering mess by the time I finish writing this. Really, I’m already tearing up. This is an enormously important wedding to me because Jeni is one of my best friends in the whooooole world! Jeni and I met in high school, which feels like a zillion years ago at this point (I talked a little bit about our meeting in her engagement session post if you want to look back at it.) Jeni has been my friend who always reminds me that having fun is generally more important than anything else in life…and I love that about her! This girl can create a party out of a Tuesday afternoon and, let’s just admit it, a bottle of champagne;) Oooh, should I have said Tuesday evening…would that have been more blog friendly?!?! If champagne reminds me of anyone it reminds me of Jeni. But what’s most important about this fact is that champagne is a celebratory drink, a bottle that no one opens unless something great happens, but Jeni opens bottles of champagne for no reason at all and that is a fantastic attitude to have! So it’s no surprise to me that Jeni chose Joe, who tends to bring the party with him wherever he is too. He is tall and handsome and commands attention and—in the case of Nantucket—seems to be the one that everyone follows (alright, maybe that had something to do with the ipod dock that he carried with him everywhere…we all went where the music was). I’ve loved watching these two over the past few years, watching them continue to celebrate together and challenge each other constantly. How appropriate that I got to spend the whole weekend with them a couple of weeks ago celebrating with the most important people in their lives. The fact that I was a part of that group makes me very very happy.
So I was actually in Jeni’s wedding, so how in the world did I photograph it too? Well, the fabulous Samantha Melanson shot as an associate for me and so I tried to let you know every image that she took on here. She’ll also have a blog post up sometime soon and there will be more pics to take a look at:) Samantha, thank you for being so wonderful all day long and putting up with everything and with me in particular—you know, because I’m high-strung and all;) Thank you thank you for all of your hard work girl! Onto the images!
I looooove the simplicity of their rings. Absolutely amazing!
The forecast was calling for rain so Jeni originally had set up the apartment for the ceremony—I shot a lot of details inside and really love this grid:)
Jeni, you’re beautiful. Just in case you needed to hear it one more time from me.
These were all shot by the fabulous Samantha. Jeni’s Paloma Blanca gown was perfect for her.
Haha…I love the nerves of putting on the dress. Great moment!
This was such an awesome moment. I love the quality of light in this one.
Meanwhile, Samantha headed over to photograph the guys getting ready. I love these shots Sam!
Joe, you’re handsome. Totally dapper.
Just before the first look. Sam grabbed these shots of Jeni’s anticipation. I love these!
First look. Looooove it! Oh, and rain? What rain?
The whole bridal party. These next few were shot by Sam, obviously, because you might recognize the girl on the left?!?! Ugh, how hard is it to be on the other side of the camera? Yuck, it’s hard!
The gentlemen. Hmmm, can I call you guys that?!?!
Jeni wanted to incorporate this lifeguard chair. So we did:) Guys, totally worth dragging it out of the muddy grass…totally worth it!
Then back to the beach for a few (alright…a bit more than a few) shots! Jeni and Joe, I love the way you laugh with each other. This makes me so flippin’ happy:)
Mine…and I love this shot more than I should. Just thought you should know:)
Yeah, it was sooooo hard to take pictures of these two. I mean, they just never look good you know?!?! JK :)
These next couple are Samantha’s shots. Jeni, you’re so damn beautiful. I love you!
The next bunch of images from the ceremony are all Samantha’s. Seriously, can you believe they were calling for an 88 percent chance of rain? Poor Jeni, the stress of whether to call it inside or outside was so stressful for her. You made the right choice girl:)
Jeni and her dad. Alright…I’m crying again.
The ceremony was so amazingly beautiful.
Mr. and Mrs.—always my favorite moment of the ceremony!
We all took our shoes off and were on the beach barefoot.
Just before we left for the dinner reception the light was too good to let go. They were done with me taking pics…but I wasn’t :)
Jeni, you have always had the most fantastic laugh. And Joe, I love that you are able to make her smile like this.
We were having a little fun with the parasols.
I think the guys secretly wanted to take these home with them;) Hey, no judging…no judgment here.
Jeni…my love, my girl…I was so so so honored to be there to share in your wedding day, to stand by your side and watch you pledge your love to Joe while barefoot on the beach. I was ecstatic to be able to take some of your wedding photos, and to celebrate far too late into the evening. I was full of joy for everything that happened that day and I hope that you were able to soak in every single piece of it, because I know how quickly it can all happen. And, of course, I hope you and Joe love the photos!

Haha…if you’ve kept reading and have made it this far you’re amazing. So Joe, just in case you needed a reminder, Jeni will hurt you if necessary. I thought you might like this animated image. This was quite a funny series:)
