Ocean View Inn Wedding :: Boston Wedding Photographer :: Beverly & Rob
Beverly and Rob were married last weekend at the stunning Ocean View Inn in Gloucester—I adore an old Victorian by the ocean:) This was an especially important wedding to me because Beverly and I actually knew each other as children. Our dads have worked together for our entire lives, or almost our entire lives, and so we used to play in the office sometimes as kids. Come a couple of decades later, Beverly found my site and contacted me entirely unknowing that I was the same Lexi she knew from years ago (my last name is different after all). So it was quite funny that she found my site, out of all the photographer’s sites to find, and contacted me.
So when the wedding day came I was determined to get her great shots. Now, of course, I am always determined to get great shots (otherwise what would I be doing as a wedding photographer) but when I know someone and they know my whole family it puts a little—alright, alright…a LOT of—extra pressure on me:) And to top it all off, it was pouring on their wedding day making me work extra hard for the fab shots I got and challenged me even that much more. I’d be lying if I told you I was the picture of calm on this particular wedding day but I do love a challenge and I love when I get such a great couple, a fun bridal party, and wonderful families to make my job just that much easier. So now you have to check out the shots!
I have lots of great details. I love the suites at the Ocean View and Bev’s gorgeous Paloma Blanca gown was already hanging for me when I arrived:)
My second shooter for this day was miss Samantha Melanson and she did an amazing job with the guys shots—some of my very favorite to date! I love the shoe shot and the mirror image is great too!
One of my favorite things about having a second shooter is getting a completely different view on the day and Samantha did just that. I love this shot so much because this is an angle, and a style, that I would never shoot and it is fabulous!
The rings, again by miss Samantha.
Bev’s flowers were understated and beautiful. I loved this little chair by the window.
Here Bev’s mom, Carol, is putting the finishing touches on the gown. I love this last moment when the dress zips up…definitely a favorite moment to photograph:)
The ceremony room had these beautiful dark beams on the ceiling.
And they danced out of the ceremony to “Marry you” originally performed on the TV series Glee! I realize that not every couple I photograph is going to do this, but I definitely wouldn’t protest…teehee:) I LOVE this series!!!
And the bridal party followed suit:)
The whole bridal party rocked the umbrellas and the rain. Can you see it coming down?!?!
It was about here that Samantha said to me “I noticed you didn’t really care if your camera got wet, so I stopped holding the umbrella over you.” Truer words have never been spoken. If it rains on your wedding day…rock it! Because I certainly don’t care about getting a little rain on me—so laugh, love each other, and enjoy the day, whatever it may bring you:)
A couple of traditional umbrella shots.
Beverly, you amaze me. You absolutely brought out your inner supermodel. And Rob, way to rock out the pensive-looking-off-into-the-distance-face:)
We then separated the girls and guys to let the girls dry off and warm up a touch and get some separate group shots. Here are the guys! Samantha’s view.
I LOVE this shot of the guys. This group was so fun!
Then we switched and I took the girls out under the tree. It was still pouring but we got a bit of cover from this lovely tree. You girls are fabulous!
You wouldn’t know how cold and rainy it was looking at this photo. People think I’m lying when I say that rain gives you the best light. This photo is a case in point.
Then we stole Beverly & Rob away for a few more shots…again this tree saved my life:)
Beverly & Rob, you two are just so fun in front of the lens. You are real, and not afraid to be who you are, and it lights up the lens.
First dance series. I know there are a lot of series in this post, but a ton of their moments needed a few images to tell the whole story, I think you’ll agree:)
Then the rain broke outside and there was the most incredible light by the ocean. I have a few shots here because I can’t choose between them.
Samantha’s shot. I love the perspective and the sky here. Amazing!
Here’s Bev’s dance with her dad. I have always adored the father/daughter dance, and it’s even more special when you know the people:)
And finally we’ll end with some dancing shots. I was only here for a few minutes after dancing started but Bev’s brother, Ian, really got everyone up and dancing fast!
