Backyard Wedding :: Andover, MA :: Ali & Riki

Yes, its’ true…I got to end my 2016 wedding season with a fantastic backyard wedding. Which, let’s just be honest, is one of my favorite spots that my clients can ever get married. There is something so fun and intimate about a backyard wedding (yes even when you have over 200 guests) and I love the relaxed pacing and comfort level for every one involved in the wedding. Just love it!

Ali & Riki were married a few weeks ago on the first rainy weekend we’ve had in some time. They were, I’m sure, stressed, but it never really showed. Their family and friends rallied together to help them have a perfect wedding day, complete with tarping the ceremony benches (that Riki make HIMSELF) and offering all the umbrellas they owned to arriving guests. We all stood in the backyard of a friend’s house overlooking the water and the rain even stopped falling for the entirety of the ceremony. It was another example of just trusting yourself—if you plan B just doesn’t feel right then go with your plan A and trust your instincts. I could not have been happier to watch these two tie the knot in a slightly misty backyard standing in front of a homemade arbor (yes, Riki made that too). Ali didn’t complain once and even let her gown drag through the rainy lawn and smiled the entire time. It was a fantastic moment of the day for me. Big love goes out to these two and I hope you enjoyed a rain free honeymoon in Cabo!

Favorite Things:

• Riki made so many pieces of this wedding I just have to name a few—ceremony benches, ceremony arbor, centerpiece boxes, photobooth backdrop, and more!
• Ali smiled the whole day, despite the misty weather, and we got amazing photos because of it!
• I love the intimacy of a backyard wedding, and this one with the farmhouse and attached barns was a perfect setting
• The girls wore three different colored dresses in shades of blue-grey and it came together perfectly!
