I know that I have been rather quiet on the blog this summer and I wanted to apologize for that. This year I took the entire month of July off and traveled abroad with my family and just really tried to soak up all that summer has to offer. However, lucky for you blog readers my weddings and shoots have started back up again! Wahoo! And lucky for me my first wedding back was the incredible duo of Katie and Harold. I just adore these two—they are full of heart, and compassion, and since they are both teachers I know they understand my panic when I realized I only have one more week of summer left. Eeeeeek! But I was determined to get their blog post up before the summer was over so here it is. :)
This day was relaxed, calm, and perfect from start to finish. The sun was bright and warm but the humidity had gone away for the weekend and the sun peeked in and out of hazy clouds giving us perfect light all day. The girls wore beautiful taupe dupioni silk dresses (I personally loved these dresses) and the guys were in 3-piece grey suits. The details at Gibbet were beautiful and I was astounded by what Katie, her mom, and Antea put together. Tons of little details everywhere—from flowers hanging in jars from the sconces, to a wooden sign to direct guests to the ceremony and reception, a glass welcome sign, lemonade and ice tea station, Mr. & Mrs. ceramic bird cake toppers, wooden guest seating chart, menu boards with perfect script, local tin candles as guest favors—everything was just stunning! Then top it off with a gorgeous outdoor ceremony and Chris and I were in photographer heaven.
Katie and Harold have been together for several years and that made our photo time quite easy. I said in their engagement session that they just have that comfortable I’ve-known-you-forever kind of love that is just really easy to photograph! They also made sure to enjoy every part of their day and even walked all the way to my very favorite “hidden” spot at Gibbet. I’ll just get on with the photos so you can see what I mean. :)
Favorite Things:
• Katie and Harold timed their day perfectly and we never felt rushed, they were both so calm and relaxed
• The details…all of them…you’ll see what I mean
• During the ceremony there was a little moment that had them both cracking up, I love a little laughter during the ceremony. :)
