You want to know the best fall photo locations in and around Boston for portraits? I’ve narrowed it down my 7 favorite locations to take engagement, family, and senior photos in the fall. Autumn in Boston is always gorgeous…but I definitely have a few favorite locations that give the most vibrant foliage and the best visual backdrops, time and time again. Read on for my favorite 7 locations in Boston and the North Shore.
1. Endicott Park
There is a reason that I have chosen Endicott Park as my fall mini-sessions location. Endicott Park in Danvers gives you all the fall things—small pond, red barn, horses, changing foliage, weathered barn doors, white fences, rock walls. Honestly, anything you can think of for fall is included at this location. Plus you have the option to quickly change up your photo backdrop too! All within a few minutes of walking.

2. Smolak Farms
Smolak Farms in North Andover is a beautiful working apple orchard (so we do have to get a permit to shoot here) but if you love pumpkin patches, flowering apple trees, hay bales, apple cider donuts and more then this is definitely the location for you.

3. Smith Barn at Brooksby Farm
Brooksby Farm in Danvers is another beautiful working apple orchard (so you can stay after the shoot and pick your own apples). But right on the property is the beautiful historic Smith barn with attached pear orchards—so we can usually skip the crowds and still get the beautiful orchard backdrop, that stunning red barn, and lots of rustic moments here at this favorite little location.

4. Codman Estate
The Codman Estate in Lincoln is a beautiful estate mansion with stunning grounds and attached gardens. In the fall the fields erupt with beautiful fall colors and give a perfect autumnal vibe to all the photos.

5. Bunker Hill Monument
The Bunker Hill monument in Charlestown is perched atop a hill with one of my favorite views of Boston. But the surrounding streets are some of the most picturesque that all of Boston has to offer. The gold leaves come out first, and they fall in perfect contrast to the iron fences and beautiful red brick, this location offers perfect fall vibes.

6. Charles River Esplanade
The esplanade along the Charles River is a favorite year round, but the fall gives an especially beautiful change in the color of the leaves. The yellow/gold trees against the neutral city skyline is just perfect. Add in far fewer people on the docks than during the summer and you can grab a gorgeous shot of the Cambridge skyline down by the water.

7. Rock Meadow Conservation Area
This park, Rock Meadow Conservation Area, in Belmont is a beautiful location Spring through Fall but happens to be a particular favorite with families in the fall. Even if we are past the peak color we can still see those beautiful tall grasses and I am such a sucker for those boardwalks.

Now that you know my best fall photo locations, if you are considering booking a session at any of these beautiful locations in or near Boston (or would like to brainstorm with me about a fall session) feel free to reach out for my availability. I would love to get you on the calendar!
